DIY NOTEBOOKS FOR LESS!

notebooks- they come in a rainbow of colors, prints, and cheeky quotes, but $19.99 for paper? come on! still, i needed some books/inserts for my fauxdori cover and i have more than a few expectations and requirements.  so this diy isn't your average store bought stationary- there's actually bonus storage for your important reciepts, photos, and sticky notes!

if your a planner adddict, chances are not only are you famlliar with the "dashboard," but it's likely your favorite addition.  this simple piece of plastic allows you to keep your favorite decorating supplies on hand without the excess bulk, but if your not devoted to a three ring binder you need to buy elsewhere.  so instead of relying on a seperate accessory, i added it directly to the notebook by stitching it in the spine.  im so happy with the improvements to my everyday notebooks because it just makes everything easier.  but dont take my word for it... you can follow my video tutorial below and try it yourself!

i mainly use these for sketching ideas, and daily planning. how do you use your notebooks?

DIY ALMOND JOI ORGANIC LIP BALM

While rummaging my kitchen for dessert, I pondered how I could mimic one of my favorite childhood candies, but what I pulled out looked more like something I could wear than something I'd eat. Challenge accepted. Being as I'm always hungry (shocker), I thought the closer I could keep chocolate to my lips the happier I'd be so, lip balm it is!

For me, lip care is absolutely essential- if not, my lips peel excessively and it drives me mad. This balm has the right amount of waxiness so it locks the moisture in, and conditions the lips with the silky richness of coconut oil. You may even get a slight tint from the cacao powder if your natural lip color is fair. Best of all it's naturally scented with almond extract rather than fragrance, and sweetened with honey because I know some people who only apply lip product just so they can lick it off- i got you covered.

Believe it or not, honey is an excellent moisturizer too. I love to incorporate honey because its a humectant, meaning it pulls moisture from the air and draws it into the skin- perfect for soft, sweet, kissable lips! Your significant other will thank you for wearing this....give it a try.

you'll need

1 tbsp organic beeswax

2 tbsp organic unrefined coconut oil

1 tsp alcohol-free almond extract

1.5 tbsp raw organic cacao powder

1 tsp raw organic honey

lip balm container

You’ll notice in the video I add my ingredients in stages- this is just to ensure I don’t overheat them so they keep their beneficial integrity.

First melt your beeswax using a double boiler. Next add your honey and mix to melt and incorporate into the wax. Add your coconut oil last, as it has a lower melting point and will liquefy quickly. Finally add your almond extract and cacao powder, mixing well. Its important to make sure your almond extract is labeled alcohol free. You'll need a glycerine base rather than alcohol so it combines with your oils. You're ready to fill your containers; I went the eco friendly route by using paperboard tubes. Once filled, chill in the refrigerator to solidify- I waited about thirty minutes. And your done. Need a label? Use this link to download and print mine.

GEL POLISH

MACARON INSPIRED GYARU NAILS

macarons

Ok, i confess, I've held out on you guys. In my nail collection video I failed to share a small portion of my gels...Im sorry. Nonetheless, I now introduce to you the most adorable gel packagng EVER!

Bonnail is a japanese gel I stumbled across last year and to no surprise, I took the bait- shut up and take my money!  I have always been, and still am, a huge tomboy but for reasons I can not explain am still a total sucker for kawaii packaging- or any packaging for that matter. I guess it just can't be denied- it's cute, and I love good design.

So while my innate reaction was to buy every single color possible, I've successully managed to compose myself to a modest purchase of 5 pots. Yes, quite the accomplishment considering the cuteness factor. Now how I came to decide on such a random assortment of colors, I also cannot explain, but here it is. I own 210P, 514M, 411M, 309M, and 347M. And again, Im going to have to apologize because these adorbale pots are not easy to come by. In order to purchase them internationally I had to use a forwarding service which means more moola. Is it worth it? Absolutely.

Do you have a favorite gel polish brand you think I should try ? Or also a sucker for packaging? Tell me your favorite products!
